Hozhro by Michel Gonneville.

Four renowned creative thinkers and eight performers come together with Michel Gonneville to create a multi-disciplinary event that addresses a heated topic of debate — the ecological crisis. Inspired by the ideas of eminent Québécois ecologist Pierre Dansereau, this work is an important first of its kind! Dance, video, lighting, architectural scenography, and music propel audiences into the universe of a woman haunted by this very same crisis, and combine to recreate her search for inner harmony (“hozhro” in Navajo). This assembly of art forms also sets in motion a process that is much like a First Nation’s hearing ritual. Portrayed by soprano Éthel Guéret and surrounded by two dancers and five musicians, the central character retreats inwardly, escapes into dreams and sensual fantasy, later to emerge in a state of peace and clarity.
