Oboist Florence Blain is currently completing her studies at the Montréal Conservatory under the direction of Lise Beauchamp. Winner of numerous prizes at the provincial and national levels, she has appeared with the Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra in Spain, the Netherlands, Austria, and China. While pursuing a concert career, Blain also studied electro-acoustic composition with Louis Dufort, Gilles Gobeil, and Yves Daoust. In 2007, she became a member of the prestigious UBS Verbier Festival Orchestra where she continued her training as a musician under the direction of reputed conductors Zubin Mehta, Charles Dutoit, Michail Pletnev, Sir Andrew Davis, and Esa Pekka Salonen. Blain completed her programme in chamber music in 2008 and will perform her final juried recital in oboe this spring.
