Alejandro Escuer is a Mexican multidisciplinary artist and flute soloist who has developed his own artistic and visual foundations on music interpretation and electroacoustic composition, often related to his art photography and music improvisation techniques. He has earned many prizes and recognitions including the Interpretes con Trayectoria National Recognition Award (2010-2013) granted by Consejo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes FONCA, Fulbright García Robles for a posdoctoral residency, Rockefeller Foundation Award, Mexico en Escena National Award in many occasions among many others. Alejandro Escuer is also a full professor tenure faculty at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México- Escuela Nacional de Música) Escuer has been a driving force for the consolidation of a new music movement in Mexico. He founded www.onixensamble.com in 1993 and since then the group has been a key element in the Mexican music scene. He obtained his soloist degree from Sweelinck Conservatorium Amsterdam (M.A./Uitvoerend Musicus), and earned a doctorate from New York University (Ph.D. Doctor of Philosophy in Music). He has recorded nine albums.
