Rō Ogura mainly lived in Tokyo and Kamakura. Ogura studied modern French music and German classical music by Shiro Fukai and Tomojiro Ikenouchi, and wrote several symphonies called Ogurahms inspired by the work of Johannes Brahms. His focus then shifted and he began to write music that was based on and inspired respectively by the traditional Japanese folk music. In addition to his compositional activities, he was also a talented writer who has published several books.
