Composer

Nancy Tam is an emerging composer/improviser/pianist in her last year of studies at Wilfrid Laurier University studying with Peter Hatch and Glenn Buhr in composition and improvisation. From 2004 to 2008, Nancy studied piano under new music specialist, Elaine Lau. During this time, she was in a new music piano duo, Perpetual Commotion with pianist Philip Enchin coached by Boyd McDonald.

She was a featured student in piano masterclasses with Fredrick Rzewski and Pauline Oliveros. In April 2008 the Kitchener Waterloo Symphony Orchestra read her first orchestral composition, Still Waiting. Nancy has been most recently featured as a soloist with Digital Prowess in their rendition of Fredrick Rzewski’s Coming Together on the stage of Dundas Square downtown Toronto for New Music Festival in Toronto. She is currently on the concert series with the Toy Piano Composers concert series in Toronto.
