Multi-talented musician Philip Hornsey devotes the majority of his professional activity to the performance and dissemination of contemporary music. As such, he is a member of numerous ensembles dedicated to this repertoire, including the Ensemble Contemporain de Montréal (ECM), Bradyworks, the Sixtrum percussion ensemble, Kore, and Kovalis (a piano-percussion duo). Hornsey completed a bachelor’s degree at McGill University where he worked with Pierre Béluse and D’Arcy Gray. He later earned a master’s degree from the Université de Montréal under the supervision of Julien Grégoire. Since then he has taken part in various professional programmes both in Canada and abroad, notably at Banff (1998; 1999) and Darmstadt (1998; 2000). His teachers have also included Louis Charbonneau, David Kent, Alexander Lepak, Michel Udow and Yoshikazu Fujimoto.
