Les Jeunes solistes and Rachid Safir perform works by Vivier.
One of the most acclaimed vocal ensembles on the international scene pays tribute to Montreal composer Claude Vivier! Directed by founder Rachid Safir, the French ensemble Les Jeunes Solistes brings together 20 voices for a performance of some of Vivier’s most touching music. Clearly autobiographical, Vivier’s work recounts tales of love, childhood, and death in a combination of languages that only heightens the mystery surrounding this Canadian music legend, whose life ended so tragically. Founded 20 years ago, Les Jeunes Solistes has become an internationally recognized example of excellence through performances of vocal polyphony from the Renaissance to the present.
