South American sensuality with a festive air! The SMCQ celebrates the 90th birthday of composer Alcides Lanza with a large-scale concert. The program will introduce several major works of this electroacoustic music pioneer, inviting the audience to take in the full measure of the talented composer, conductor, pianist and recognized pedagogue. And to illustrate the colours of Lanza’s music, special guest Argentine pianist Horacio Lavandera will play his piano concerto. A piece by Katia Makdissi-Warren, tinged with sounds evoking sunny climates will complete this upbeat evening.
