Coproduction Trio Hochelaga / Conservatoire de musique de Montréal
Trio Hochelaga dives into the world of contemporary music! Works by Beethoven and Schubert will rub shoulders with various pieces by Ana Sokolović — music strongly influenced by her native country, ranging from traditional Serbian dances to the rhythm of the language, by way of sentimental songs. The Trio will take listeners on a sonic journey, through a programme of works destined to blur the boundaries between the past and present, between here and elsewhere.
Ludwig van Beethoven, Trio no 5 en mi bémol majeur «Fantôme», op 70 no 1 (2002)
Franz Peter Schubert, Trio no 1 en si bémol majeur, D 898, op 99
Ana Sokolović, Danses et interludes (2003)
piano
Ana Sokolović, “da smo se ranije sreli”, extract from City Songs (2001, 12)
Ana Sokolović, “bolujem ja”, extract from City Songs (2001, 12)
Hailed as beyond reproach, unexpected, and inspired, Trio Hochelaga has a mission to facilitate the rediscovery of neglected musical treasures by audiences everywhere.
The SMCQ has been moving in step with the lively rhythms of new music for over forty-five years. With its regular concert season, its Série hommage (Homage Series), an international festival, and a young listener’s programme, the society has served both as a platform for today’s composers and as a window on creative works for everyone.
