Production Fondation Arte Musica
In conjunction with the Musée des Beaux-Arts’ retrospective on Lyonel Fyninger, the Arte Musica foundation invites pianist Mathieu Gaudet to present “Feininger the Musician” and “Sokolović the Painter”! As part of the “Tableaux en Musique” series, Gaudet will perform compositions by the painter Feininger, an artist given a place of honour at the MBAM (Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal) for works strongly influenced by music. In a fugal programme incorporating works by Bach and Schumann, Gaudet will perform Sokolović’s multihued Prelude and Fugue for GG.

An increasingly visible presence on the Canadian music scene, audiences and critics alike applaud Mathieu Gaudet for performances that are both introspective and taken from a broad range of repertoire.
The SMCQ has been moving in step with the lively rhythms of new music for over forty-five years. With its regular concert season, its Série hommage (Homage Series), an international festival, and a young listener’s programme, the society has served both as a platform for today’s composers and as a window on creative works for everyone.
