Production Orchestre 21
Two concertos and two premieres in the space of two hours: the Orchestre 21 hasn’t got cold feet. Paolo Bellomia will conduct Sokolović’s concerto — introspective, “simply human” music — as well as Debussy’s, showcasing the talented Jimmy Brière. Also on the programme, a never-performed tale in music by Debussy, and a premiere by Leclair. In short, a large-scale undertaking for a fearless orchestra! The production is supported by the CALQ.

Directed by Paolo Bellomia, Orchestre 21 has always maintained a mission to encourage new Québécois music. Inspired pianist and sought-after chamber player, Jimmy Brière is a regular performer on both the local and international scene.
The SMCQ has been moving in step with the lively rhythms of new music for over forty-five years. With its regular concert season, its Série hommage (Homage Series), an international festival, and a young listener’s programme, the society has served both as a platform for today’s composers and as a window on creative works for everyone.
