At different times in the year, the quartet comes together in workshops with the composers. These will freely experiment their works and take time to polish the score, according to the results. The multiplicity of origins, influences and respective experiences of each invited composer, coupled with the complete mastery of the quartet, combine to promise an uncharted journey.

The SMCQ has been moving in step with the lively rhythms of new music for over forty-five years.
