mezzo-soprano, processing and film
L’étoile libre was born from Archimedes’ spiral.
This cycle for solo mezzo-soprano follows quite freely the curve of this ancient form and some of its later transformation. The complete cycle comprises nine songs and each song represents an “act”.
L’étoile libre dies, glows and blazes through the Ram Crash Theory.
Though changed (mutata) I arise (resurgo) the same (eadem)
L’étoile libre was composed with support from the Canada Council for the Arts, Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, Visby Centre for composers (Sweden), and CUPFA (Concordia University Part-time Faculty Association).
