…qui est… for bass-baritone and electronics is dedicated to women. The composition was directly inspired by observations about women’s position in various communities of the modern world, also in the light of religious doctrines. The work uses Sappho’s Fragment 31 phainetai moi (φαίνεταί µοι), also known for its opening words as “…That man…”, as well as excerpts from Psalm 130 and What is the Word by Samuel Beckett. The text is presented from a man’s perspective. The performer has been given plenty of freedomin interpreting the text which is organized in general sections. Special thanks to Przemysław Scheller PhD [www.scheller.com.pl] who helped me to create an electronic part.
