Following his 1993 conducting debut in Montpellier, René Bosc was appointed by René Koering to oversee the contemporary music concerts of the Radio France and Montpellier Festival. He has conducted the Ensemble Diagonales, Orchestre National de Montpellier, ECM2, Les Percussions de Strasbourg, Moscow Soloists, Orchestre National de Jazz (France), «Tambuco» percussionists from Mexico, the ballet Ocean with the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, as well as soloists like Fazil Say, Didier Lockwood and François-René Duchâble. Numerous composers have dedicated their works to him including Philippe Hersant (Concerto de violon) and Hans Werner Henze (Upupa, premiered in Salzburg in 2003). René Bosc is currently composing Vis-à-Vis, an opera commissioned by Opéra National de Montpellier that will be premiered in November 2005. In 2001 he became Director of New Music at Radio France and Artistic Director of Festival Présences.
