Born in Lévis, Florence Bourget obtained a master’s degree with honours from the Université de Montréal and recently graduated from the Atelier lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal. She made her debut in 2018 as Wellgunde in Wagner’s Das Rheingold and played Mrs. Grose with “remarkable vocal magnitude and fullness” (Le Devoir) in Britten’s The Turn of the Screw with the Orchestre de l’Agora. In 2020, she performed the role of Angel II in George Benjamin’s powerful and demanding Written on Skin.
She also performs with the I Musici de Montréal Chamber Orchestra, Festival Classica, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens and the Orchestre Symphonique de Laval, among others. She is featured on ATMA Classique’s recent recording of the complete melodies of Jules Massenet. In 2020, she sang a title role in the premiere of the all-female Quebecois opera L’hiver attend beaucoup de moi by Laurence Jobidon, webcast by the Opéra de Montréal.
Her European debut having been postponed by a year due to the global pandemic, she will be taking part in the International Opera Workshop Waiblingen (Germany) next fall and will appear in the main role of Lucretia in Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia in Tourcoing (France) in February 2022.
