Gene Coleman is a composer and director. He received the Berlin Prize in Music Composition from the American Academy in Berlin and is a 2015 Guggenheim Fellow.
He currently serves as the director of the American Composers Forum Philadelphia Chapter and Ensemble N_JP. Recent commissions include works for The AsianArt Ensemble (Japan Foundation), the JACK Quartet (Fromm Foundation), Allora and Calzadilla (Venice Biennale), Quartetto Prometeo (Chigiana International Festival) and Ensemble N_JP (Chamber Music America and the Graham Foundation).
