SMCQ founding member in 1966, along with Maryvonne Kendergi, Jean Papineau-Couture, Serge Garant and Wilfrid Pelletier. He was an administrator until 1969. Composer, author, he dedicated his life promoting the brilliance of music worldwide, involving himself with the French and English Radio-Canada networks, the National Arts Centre, the Canada Council for the Arts of Canada and the Victoria Symphony. At age 16 he won the prestigious CAPAC (later known as SOCAN) award for Trois préludes pour pianos. Hugh Davidson composed works of great diversity, from chamber music to choral works via ballet scores and theatrical music.
