A native of Chicoutimi, Gabriel Dufour moved to Montréal in 2000 to begin musical training. At the 2008 SOCAN Foundation Awards for Young Composers he received a Sir-Ernest-MacMillan award (first prize). In addition to playing bass for various ensembles, Laperrière also works with various sound and visual artists.
