Sweden, 1956
Composer
Lars Ekström has composed a wide variety of music. He has written fragile chamber works and powerful orchestral pieces; he has been inspired by the drama of a boxing commentary and by the Theatre of Cruelty of Antonin Artaud. He is the musical border-crosser who became professor in composition/instrumentation at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. He is well oriented in many idioms, composing works in the veins of chamber music, orchestral music, opera, string quartets, solo works, electroacoustic music and so forth.
