Performer (percussion)

After completing his studies at the Paris Conservatory, Jean Geoffroy forged his own personal path in the world of percussion that allowed him to commission and perform a number of works. Principal timpanist with the Ensemble Orchestral de Paris (1985-2000) and soloist with Court-Circuit, he has been the dedicatee and first performer of a number of works for solo percussion. Geoffroy has performed as a guest soloist at the most prestigious festivals in Europe including, among others, Radio-France’s Présences festival (Paris), P.A.S. (London), Darmstadt, Fenice (Venice), Musica (Strasbourg), Archipel (Geneva), Edenkoben (Germany), and PASIC (Dallas). Geoffroy gives regular recitals and masterclasses in major European and international cities. A tireless performer where giving life to a new work is concerned or performing a piece he knows to perfection is the task at hand, Geoffroy has taken part in over thirty recordings. His love of teaching has led him to write a number of pedagogical works. He also directs a collection for Éditions Lemoine. Since 1998, he has taught at the national conservatories in Lyon and Geneva.
