Performer (soprano)

Éthel Guéret has sung a number of major roles. She has appeared with the Opéra de Montréal in the roles of Sophie (Werther), Flora (The Turn of the Screw), and Constance (Les Dialogues des Carmélites). With the OSM she took the role of the child in L’Enfant et les Sortilèges, and with the Orchestre Métropolitain she played Blonde (Die Entführung aus dem Serail). Guéret has appeared in productions of Le Vampire et la Nymphomane, La Princesse Blanche, and Alternates Visions produced by Chants Libres. At the TNM, she portrayed Marie in Wozzeck. In Europe, Guéret has sung with the Opéra de Genève (Beatrix Cenci, Jenufa, Dido and Aeneas) and the opera companies of Marseille, Metz and Montpellier, as well as the Orchestre Baroque du Montauban. Two works have been written for her voice: Jacques Casérède’s La Voie Écarlate (premiered in France with the Orchestre de Bordeaux), and Pacamambo, an opera by Zack Settel and Wajdi Mouawad that was premiered in Montréal by Chants Libres.
