Performer (trombone)

Marius Hesby earned a Master of music degree from the Norwegian state academy of music, where he studied under professor (1995-2001). From 1999 he has been principal trombonist of the Royal Norwegian navy band, frequently substituting in Norwegian and Swedish symphony orchestras. Passionate about the soloistic potential of the trombone, he pursues opportunities to perform the instrument’s rapidly growing solo literature, also commissioning and premiering music from contemporary composers. In 2005, he premiered a major concerto by Norwegian composer Arne Nordheim with the Bergen philharmonic orchestra. Over the last few years, Hesby has appeared as soloist with several of the Norwegian symphony orchestras. He has performed on major Norwegian festivals such as the one in Bergen and the Ultima Contemporary Music Festival in Oslo, and toured Norway, Sweden, the Baltic countries and Russia with recitals and solo performances.
