Dubbed “Heaven’s trumpeter” by the Toronto-based ensemble Arraymusic, Amy Horvey is one of Canada’s most versatile and original emerging young trumpeters. In the last three years, her concert engagements have included the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, Holland Festival, Open Space Victoria New Music Series, Arraymusic, Soundstreams Canada, National Arts Center/NAC Orchestra, Montréal Symphony, Netherlands Wind Ensemble, and Kraakgeluiden Amsterdam. In 2006 Amy toured Canada with a solo recital entitled The Perspective of Disappearance, and was invited by Dave Douglas to be a featured soloist at the Festival of New Trumpet Music in New York City. She has created original musical scores for several dance projects with Lithuanian choreographer Agnija Sarulienne. Amy’s most recent projects include The Queen of the Music Boxes, an electric vaudeville collaboration with composer Jeff Morton, and the 2007 Lucerne Festival Academy with Pierre Boulez. In May 2008, she toured Northern Italy with a program of contemporary music for solo trumpet.
