Since completing a master‚s degree in performance in 1994, mezzo-soprano Noëlla Huet’s career has led her to perform works in a broad array of genres and styles. She has been singled out for her performances of Handel‚s Messiah and Bach’s Christmas Oratorio (Studio de musique ancienne de Montréal), Dvorak’s Stabat Mater (Orchestre Métropolitain du Grand Montréal), and, under the direction of Charles Dutoit, Duruflé’s Requiem (l’Orchestre symphonique de Montréal).
Huet made her operatic début in 2001 with the Opéra de Montréal in the roles of Octavia (L’Incoronazione di Poppea) and Kabanicha (Katia Kabanova), reappearing in the latter role with the Florida Grand Opera in Miami. Other roles include Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel) and Mrs. Sedley (Peter Grimes).
Noëlla Huet has undertaken a number of international tours with the Deux Mondes theatre company. Principal vocalist in Leitmotiv, she created the role of Rosa, which she has performed in more than thirty cities spread out over nine countries. During her longstanding association with the Montréal Pentaèdre ensemble she premiered a chamber version of Mahler’s Kindertotenlieder, and gave several performances of R. Murray Schafer’s Minnelieder.
