Electroacoustician and sound artist Monique Jean focuses on tensions, fractures and sharp contrasts in sound to transform reality into poetry. This pursuit of organic material takes various forms: electroacoustic pieces, mixed music with real-time processing, sound installations (Point d’attaches ou les infidélités rotatives) and live performances with the improvisation group Theresa Transistor (2005 Prix Opus in the “Concert of the year — contemporary music, electroacoustics” category).

A finalist in many competitions, Monique has seen her works performed in numerous concerts and festivals at both the national and international level, including at Multiphonies (Paris), Akousma (Montréal), Sonorities (Belfast), NYCEMF (New York), San Francisco Tape Music (San Francisco), Festival Ai-Maîao (Chili) and Elektra (Montréal). In 2012, she was invited to complete a residency at the Civitella Ranieri Foundation in Italy. Her latest DVD album, Greffes (IMED 12119), was awarded the 2013 Prix Opus in the category of “Album of the year — contemporary music — electroacoustics.”
