Believing in the combination of instrumental and electroacoustic music, Julien-Robert composes mixed music. He uses the technology’s possibilities to integrate video to his work. His pieces of music have been performed in England, France, Argentina, Kosovo, United States of America, Australia, Portugal and Canada in various festivals like Sonoimagenes, Spark festival, SOUNDplay festival, Remusica Festival, ICMC, UVM, Totally Huge New Music festival, Studio 300 or Opensound. His projects have been funded by the Canada Council for the Arts, Conseil des arts et lettres du Québec and the SOCAN Foundation. His pieces have been played by well-known musicians like Walter Boudreau with the SMCQ, Lorraine Vaillancourt, Véronique Lacroix, Julien Compagne and Krista Martynes. He won a first price at the Sond’Ar-te electric ensemble competition 2014, Serge-Garant of the SOCAN Foundation award 2014, a third price in the 2011 Salvatore Martirano Memorial Composition Award Competition and got a honorable mention at the Fresh Minds Festival 2013. He got commissions from ECM+, Paramirabo ensemble, Codes d’accès, NAISA, Vidéographe, [iks] and the SMCQ.
