Sean Kim, born in Korea, attended the University of Western Ontario to complete a Bachelors degree in theory and composition (2001) and a Masters degree in composition (2003). While at Western, Sean studied piano with John-Paul Bracey and Gwen Beamish, harpsichord with Dr. Sandra Mangsen, composition with, among others, Dr. Omar Daniel and Dr. Peter Paul Koprowsky, and conducting with Jerome Summers. Currently, he is working on Ph.D. in music composition under the guidance of Dr. Paul Frehner at the UWO. Sean’s compositions have been performed various ensembles including the Windsor Symphony Orchestra, the Esprit Orchestra, the Blyth Festival Orchestra and the Korean-Canadian Symphony Orchestra. Other musical endeavours include: music director for St. John the Divine Anglican Church in Arva; examiner for Conservatory Canada; adjudicator for Kiwanis Music Festivals; instructor of music theory at the UWO; and conductor for the Blyth Festival Orchestra.
