Performer (voice)

Canadian zwischenfach J. Marchand Knight has appeared with the Continuo Arts Symphony, Florida Grand Opera, the Miami Bach Society, Hispanic-American Lyric Opera, and Intermezzo Opera. J. was recently heard in a live broadcast as an invited guest composer and soloist in Mixed Messages/No Pants with CLOrk, under the direction of Eldad Tsabary. A featured a composer and performer at the Schulich School of Music’s inaugural Queer History Month concert, excerpts of their chamber opera Them were heard and they, in turn, sang the Canadian premiere of Amelia Brey’s Three Songs to Joannes. Upcoming engagements include Don José in a gender bent version of Bizet’s Carmen and Agrippina in Handel’s Agrippina with Opéra Queens and a premiere of a monody by Jason Noble with text by BA Markus based on the author’s What Mommy Needs. J. teaches at The Voice Lab, Inc., a school supporting transgender voice users. They are a recipient of McGill’s Award for Equity and Community Building and hold a medical ethics fellowship at Concordia University for research on voice and gender.
