Founded in 2009 by Maestro Philippe Ménard, the Orchestre philharmonique des musiciens de Montréal (OPMEM) has the mission of providing young, dedicated and talented musicians with opportunities to develop and perfect their orchestral playing. The OPMEM brings together musicians from different educational institutions, bringing young professionals opportunities to make new connections and expand their networks. It aims to present regular full concert high quality programmes within a timeframe which adheres to the usual standards. In addition to its classical concerts and participation in opera, ballet, popular concert and even musical theatre productions, the OPMEM offers virtuosos beginning their careers the opportunity to perform on the Montréal stage, thus allowing them to enrich their experience as soloists and increase their visibility. Since the 2016-17 season, the OPMEM has created its own choir. For the 2021-22 season, it is under the direction of Christophe Gauthier.
