A graduate of the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England and l’Université de Montréal, flutist and piccolist Josée has a very active orchestral career on the Quebec scene. She regularly performs with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, the Orchestre symphonique de Québec and the Orchestra des Grands Ballets Canadiens. A member of the Renzo-Poirier duo (flute and harp), Poirier has also performed as a chamber musician with the MSO winds and the Alcan Quartet, among others. She has participated in the creation of dozens of Canadian works, either with major orchestral ensembles or renowned contemporary music ensembles, within the flute ensemble Alizé or as a soloist (S. Arcuri, J. Tremblay). She has also participated in several recordings for the National Film Board of Canada. Josée Poirier currently teaches flute classes at the Cégep de Sherbrooke and Collège Lionel-Groulx.
