Lorenzo Troiani was born in Italy (Rome, 1989) and lives in Vienna. He studied composition with Salvatore Sciarrino, Clemens Gadenstätter, Gerd Kühr and Chaya Czernowin in the Conservatory of Rome, Conservatory of Latina, University of music and performing arts Graz and Harvard University. He also studied electronic Music with Hans Tutschku at Harvard University. His music has been performed by different ensembles such as Klangforum Wien, Neue Vocalsolisten, Quatuor Diotima, MDI ensemble, etc. He has been Composer in Residence in several Festivals and Institutions such as: Künstlerhaus Eckernförde (Germany 2017), IZZM Klagenfurt (Austria 2017), Schloss Wiepersdorf (Germany 2016), Villa Sträuli (Switzerland 2015). Some of his compositions are published by Universal Edition Wien, Sconfinarte and Col Legno label. The poetry of Paul Celan and Francis Ponge, the works of Paul Klee and Jannis Kounellis, the philosophy of J-L. Nancy and Jacques Derrida have a crucial role in his music. He graduated in Philosophy at the University “Roma Tre” of Rome with Paolo D’Angelo and Elio Matassi with a dissertation on ontological thinking of Paul Klee. At the moment he is specializing in the study of post-Nietzschean ontology, especially in its links with the thought of the pre-Socratic thinkers.
