Love Songs by Ana Sokolović.
A trip around the world in 100 love words! Toronto-based theatre company Queen of Puddings presents the Montreal premiere of Love Songs, by the Montreal composer Ana Sokolović. The composer’s favourite love poems are set here to music, from romantic to maternal love, and from childhood crushes to love for a departed brother. Sokolović gives listeners a chance to hear the words “I love you,” in 100 different languages. Performed by the Ontario mezzo-soprano Lauren Phillips, this work is a virtuosic tour de force.
Founded in 1995 and devoted to Canadian works, Queen of Puddings Music Theatre is a leader in new music theatre in Canada.
