Jean-François Laporte and Barbara Sarreau perform Mon corps jamais ne s’arrêtera de danser by Jean-François Laporte.
Jean Tartaroli, lighting. Sarah Veillon, costumes.
This work for music and dance is a captivating journey into the world of alienation. It features fascinating sonic and choreographic gestures of great expressiveness despite their starkness. Montreal-based composer/instrument-builder Jean-François Laporte and French choreographer/dancer Barbara Sarreau are creating musical dance…and choreographed music — quite a challenge. Here, the sounds the dancer makes are amplified and integrated to the soundtrack; there, the musician’s gestures interact with the dancer’s: the great solitude the theme expresses is softened by the artists’ close interaction.
