Works by Mercure, Prokofiev and Rachmaninoff.
Orchestre symphonique de Montréal (OSM) partners with the festival to highlight the 50th anniversary of Québec’s first major contemporary music event: The Semaine internationale de musique actuelle (1961). The orchestra will be performing a work written specifically for it (1963-1964) by Pierre Mercure, one of our country’s new muic pioneers. Designed as a suite of variations on a single theme, Lignes et points will be presented alongside two Russian masterpieces. The concert will be conducted by British conductor Sir Andrew Davis.
