Works by Evangelista, Garant, Leroux and Ligeti.
Expressiveness and virtuosity: these two words seem to summarize what conductor Paolo Bellomia has in mind 50 years after the Semaine internationale de musique actuelle was held in Montréal. On the one hand: Leroux and Evangelista, two of the most striking figures in today’s music; on the other: Ligeti and Garant, emblematic composers of the 20th century. Beyond their obvious stylistic distinctions, they all illustrate how lyricism, expression, and tradition remain integral part of music… even “new” music. Don’t miss this concert by a young orchestra, and discover (or rediscover) a few contemporary music classics.
