Works by Boudreau and Vivier.
Pre-concert event, 6:00 pm, free admission
Sound a drum roll in celebration of a hero! For the MNM festival opening event, the Ensemble de la SMCQ pays homage to Claude Vivier, who tragically left us 30 years ago. The SMCQ underscores this anniversary by programing two of the composer’s most notable works, where mysticism, exoticism and nostalgia evoke disturbing feelings. Highlighted by talented soloists Louise-Andrée Baril and Marie-Annick Béliveau, this concert will be punctuated by Walter Boudreau’s violin concerto, a signature from the SMCQ’s Maestro, inspired by Vivier’s musical life, with soloist Noémi Racine Gaudreault.
