International conference organized by the Société de musique contemporaine du Québec

On the occasion of its 50th anniversary the Société de musique contemporaine du Québec (SMCQ) presents all the details of its conference entitled Horizons musicaux contemporains, with the theme “Radios, universités et création musicale: synergies croisées“. This conference is part of the 8th edition of the biennial Montréal/NewMusic (MNM) festival, which will be held from Thursday, February 23 through Saturday, March 4.

Where does the creation of contemporary music stand today?

How have the contributions of public radio networks and music faculties affected the evolution of new music over the past last fifty years?

Many speakers, plus many guests (Canada, France, Germany, Austria, etc.), will present their perspective on two major themes:

  • The role of music faculties in promoting contemporary music;
  • The role of public radio networks in promoting contemporary music.

Attend this international colloquium organized by the Société de Musique contemporaine du Québec (SMCQ) and listen to the analyses of the speakers as they question the impact and the contribution of these mediums to contemporary music.

Among the speakers, of particular note are Zosha Di Castri, Sandeep Bhagwati, Michel Duchesneau, Karine Le Bail, Björn Gottstein, Suzanna Niedermayr, and Michel Rochon (moderator).
