One of the most prestigious Italian ensembles invite us to learn about their composers and rediscover our own.

The mdi ensemble has distinguished itself on the European scene through many awards and recognitions. Conceived in dialogue with the SMCQ, the program proposes a meeting between Italian and Canadian contemporary music. This plunge into two parallel universes is one “eccezionale” opportunity, taking the pulse of chamber music from our two countries.

The program includes two works written for the ensemble mdi. A work by the composer Salvatore Sciarrino cocommission by MNM and Festival Milano Musica, will have its continental premiere, and a world premiere of a work by Lorenzo Troiani.
