We have just learned that Denis Gougeon has won the first prize of the International Composition Contest at Shanghai! Indeed, the jury decided to grant him first place, before Frenchman Krystof Maratka (2nd place) and Danish Simon Steen-Andersen (3rd place), for his piece Toy, which was performed today at the Shanghai Grand Theatre. Gougeon will be coming home with a prize of$ 25 000. Congratulations!
Thanks to the work of the SMCQ, 8 composers from Québec took part in this contest organized by Radio France and the Shanghai Media Group.
