Congratulations to Philippe Prud’homme, big winner of the first SMCQ Jeunesse piano competition. The jury, composed of Walter Boudreau, Louise Bessette and Pierre Jasmin, was swept away by the talent of the young virtuoso, as well as by the performances of the other young competitors. The following are the winners: 1st place: Philippe Prud’homme, 2nd place: Antoine Laporte, 3rd place: Francis Battah.

In addition to winning a $1,000 bursary and tickets to attend the creation of the Concerto de l’asile with Alain Lefèvre in January 2013, our winner will interpret the Valse de l’asile at the Grand concert FAMEQ next November 23rd, at the Palais Montcalm, with the Ensemble vent et percussion de Québec conducted by René Joly. The SMCQ Jeunesse competition was organized by the SMCQ in collaboration with the Centre de musique canadienne au Québec and the Fédération des associations de musiciens éducateurs du Québec.

See you next year for the next competition!
