Point de passage constitutes a liberal adapted in music, of the novel The Time Machine (1895) by H.G. Wells and was recorded in the composer’s studio in Montreal in 1997. Commissioned by ACREQ with the help of the Canada Council for the Arts, the work was premiered in May of the same year as part of the “Haute Tension” concert produced by ACREQ and Montreal’s Usine C. Point de passage received an award from the 1999 CIMESP international electroacoustic music competition in Sao Paolo, and honoured as a finalist at Bourges in 1998.
