A liberal interpretation of a third-century Gnostic text entitled Hymn to the Pearl and attributed to Bardesane (154-222), this piece was first performed in Cologne as part of a West German Radio (WDR3) concert on January 7th, 2002, followed by its North American premiere at the Vancouver New Music Society in September of the same year.
