Integral/parent work: Seven Spheres
[…] The ensemble is divided into 3 sections: the violin alone; the clarinet, bass clarinet, trumpet, cello and piano; and the percussion. The overall effect can be best described by an analogy: the relatively slow passing of a rolling landscape as viewed from the window of a moving train, and how the apparent momentum one experiences can be interrupted abruptely by a strickingly different sensation arising from the unexpected passing structures positioned much closer to the moving window.
